Another Post-Wedding Outfit

2.28.2017

Hey guys! I got such a lovely response on my first post-wedding outfit post so I thought I'd post another one. I sadly don't have pictures of all the outfits, wish I did but I'll share what I do have. This is one of the outfits that my mom designed for me and I love it - it's basically blue chiffon with embroidery, quite simple, but I really like how it turned out - you could easily dress it up or down.

I usually never wear jewelry, I always get antsy after a while so these peices were taken soon after but not before a few pictures haha - these lovely pieces (the earrings and the bracelet) are by Tesoro - and are amazing quality seriously! I got these as wedding presents and I'm so happy with them!

Bold Red Lips - Get The Look

2.23.2017

The star of this look is the stunning lip color which is The Balm Cosmetics' Meet Matte Hughes in the shade Adoring. Before I placed my order, I was searching for swatches of this, and for some reason - every swatch was of a very dark, vampy red so that is what I had in mind when I applied it for the first time - but that is not the color I got - yet I couldn't be happier. Adoring seems to perfect the balance between a bright and dark red, it's neither maroon-ish nor too bright - just perfect! The formula itself is great - (review coming soon) so I'd say, this time when The Balm has their annual 50% off sale, grab this (and a few other shades too!) - you won't regret it!

Trying Out Cult Classics From Kiehls

2.20.2017

I'd like to call myself a budget blogger, almost everything on my blog comes under the drugstore category, I love finding affordable things that work and given that you guys are receptive to such posts, I can tell that you guys enjoy that too. This isn't just my rule for makeup, it's the same for clothing, accessories, and skincare. I've always heard of people 'investing in skincare' and thinking to myself - is it really that different that great alternatives from stores like, let's say, the Body Shop etc. I don't know still.

If you're on Instagram or generally follow beauty trends, you'd be aware of how the Kiehls Midnight Recovery Oil and Avocado Eye Cream is considered to be the be all, end all these days for bloggers and while I rarely fall for hype, fall I did this time, ha! Fortunately for my bank account, it was on Cyber Monday that I decided to do some impulse shopping - here's what I bagged.

As a part of the Cyber Monday promotion, I got $20 off my order, which was definitely a relief. As a person who loves to be cheap - the original amount for these two was a bit on the pricey side. I'm still trying out these products - are they worth the splurge? is the hype real? is there a dupe somewhere for them? I'm hoping to answer all these questions in full blown reviews for these items once I've used them enough :)

What I Did On Valentine's Day 2017

2.18.2017

I have to say, Valentine's Day is very divisive - some like it, some don't and some just really hate it! I really don't mind the day itself, but I've never really actually celebrated it either lol. So me and Imad just decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner a day before and be done with it, that's about it.

A close up of the makeup - if you guys want me to do a proper breakdown of the look, let me know! I'll make a YouTube video on it soon!

A quick OOTD, I assure you, the deep burgundy top wasn't worn for Valentine's Day - it was purely coincidentally, which I obviously realized later on haha.

Here's some of what we actually had for dinner - since Imad LOVES sushi and I'm really starting to get into it - we chose Japanese. Unlike Imad, I really don't like raw sushi, so anything that's fried and spicy - I'm all for it, yum! We also decided to try something new - a sushi called 911 which turned out to be some sort of flaming sushi - all that fire on our dinner table was quite exciting haha. I don't know if you guys can tell - but it was literally on fire, and we had to blow out the flames ourselves lol (after Snapchatting and taking pictures though haha)

The best part of the day although, was this lovely box of wonderful Valentine's Day goodies that was delivered back home in Pakistan! The Body Shop has always gone a step ahead for bloggers and this box brimming with some of their best selling products was such a treat! My mom has decided to use these and review them for you guys, how sweet - so keep an eye out for that review very soon!

So that's my little recap of Valentine's Day 2017 - what did you guys do? Something special or just treated it as a normal Tuesday? :) Let me know in the comments below.

My Post-Wedding Lunch Outfit

2.14.2017

Hey guys! So some of you may or may not have seen this outfit already on my Instagram, but I thought I'd do a blog post on it regardless because I love it so much! So if you're desi, you know after the Walima there's a lunch/dinner hosted by the girls family, some people take breakfast, some don't, there are just so many traditions lol! My mom decided to take a break for a day after the Walima and hosted a lunch in the lovely winter afternoon sun the day after it. Here's what I wore :)

I loved this color! I've really never worn in before but loved everything about it, and of course I had to pair it with my trusty kundaan khussas. I've written about them in-depth in THIS (click here) blogpost including prices etc.

2016 - A Quick Recap Of My Year

2.13.2017

I know, I know - I'm almost a month too late with this post - all these recaps and resolution posts start pouring in end December and start of Jan but I was on a blog break during that time, so let's just pretend that it's not almost mid February.

2016, according to the media has been a year of travesties and tragedies, and while that may be so, on a personal front - it has been the most life changing and exhilarating year. I feel like I've marked off quite a few tradtional milestones that typically thrust an individual into adulthood - am I an adult now? I've always felt like more adult-isn than my peers in all stages of life so I'm not sure if achieving/doing these things has made me more into an adult than I was before - makes me ponder..

Anyways, here are the three major highlights of 2016 for me :) Hope you enjoy!

1. GRADUATED UNIVERSITY

Woohoo, and I seriously mean woo-freakin-hoo, I graduated university and I'm so glad I'm done with this part of my life. I'm not an academically gifted person, I'm someone with a weak ass memory that had to work 10 times harder than normal students would just to keep up therefore effectively making my time at university a incredibly challenging one (more so than normal). Having friends around me definitely helped but having one of my best friends move to Sweden midway and the other graduate before time, made the last semester at university more miserable than ever for me. When I got my clearance, let's just say, I couldn't be more relieved. I'm now a holder of a Bachelors of Sceince in Development Studies, yay, with no intention of gaining a Masters degree any time soon! Lol!

2. SCORED A BIG-SHOT JOB!

I know right after university, there's supposed to be a struggle phase where you can't find a decent job, having to do mundane jobs that have no relevance to your degree and blah blah but I'm so glad I didn't have to. Make sure how I haven't used the word lucky here, luck had nothing to do with me scoring a job with a prestigious organization at the very start of my career, it was just advance planning by me. I know that is coming off a bit pompous, but here me out, take this advice and it will (hopefully) workout for you as well as it did for me.

Now a little back story, I knew I did not want to start my Masters right after my Bachelors since before I even started my Bachelors. I always wanted to work and earn (did that before starting university as well) so that is what I did around the 3rd semester at university. At first, it was an office job which I could do from 9-3 (I had evening classes so it all worked out) but after a couple of semesters than routine took a toll on me and I decided to look for something that I could do from home, and that is exactly what I found. I started menacing social media for renowned beauty blogs, I could set up the hours I wanted and it was just an amazing opportunity for me. (I still have that job as my secondary one) - fast forward a few years, when it came to applying for jobs, or job leading to internships, unlike all my fellows who had zero experience, I had a truckload of work experience under my belt. I internet with a USAID organization at first where they worked me to death and beyond and then they asked me to join in as a full-time employee and that is what I did.

Case in point here is, the only edge I had over my peers was ample of work experience before I graduated university - seriously, that's it. Even people with better GPAs are struggling at finding jobs or stuck with jobs that don't pay them enough and this is what helped me ALOT! I hope it helps some of you guys out too :)

3. GOT MARRIED!

If you follow me on Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook or any social media site - you would know that at the end of 2016 - I got married! What? Why? How? Who? All shall be answered in a new post since this one already feels like a thesis essay LOL.
