OOTD- Generation Sale!

2.24.2014

After quite the week in Lahore attending my best friends wedding, being back home seemed incredibly boring and monotonous. The only thing that could cheer me up was the fact that Generation (my favorite shop for ready made clothes) was having one of their amazing sales, and had tons of clothes marked down to super low prices. Here's one of the pieces I picked up for a super bargain-ous price of only a thousand (PKR)! I couldn't believe it either haha.

What I love about the flare-y shirt are the different colored panels that almost seem to be the same, and the super intricate embroidery that you can only see if you look close enough. I paired them with my trusty tights (Hello Fati, if you're reading this and laughing) haha and some snake print pumps. I'm not one for accessories but these hand made bangles (at a supper duper low price) really caught my fancy and I bought them immediately. They're soo light and lovely, it's almost like you're not wearing anything at all, which is perfect for me since heavy accessories really aren't my thing.

Tights-Forever 21
Flats- BCBG
Nail Polish- Luscious Cosmetics Nickie Nina

Have you bought anything from the sales that has been an absolute bargain? I would love to know :)
Until next time, tc.

Review-Luscious Curl Addict Mascara

2.19.2014

Let me just start this post by letting you know that my mother has bought yet another tube of Buff Pink, I think the count of Luscious Signature Lipstick in Buff Pink that have been purchased by her is nearing 10! Not even joking haha. I believe she is under the impression that Buff Pink is the only shade the Luscious do and that is why she just keeps on purchasing it over and over again along with Just Peachy.

First things first, let's all take a moment to appreciate the sheer cute-ness of this mascara! I love the packaging, it's adorable and doesn't take up any space in your makeup bag. I love that the design on the packaging has been printed on the actual mascara tube as well since that is what I really wished for when the I Love Eyeshadow palettes came out. A pat on the back from Luscious Cosmetics since they listened to their consumers feedback.

Now coming on to the wand, I love it. It's not to thick, it's not to curved, making it super easy to apply. I have always been one of those people who tend to get extra mascara on my eye lids because I can't control the wand properly but the occurrence of that has decreased fairly since I started using this. Unlike some mascaras where the bristles are plastic-y, these ones are soft and makes building up the curl so much easier.

I've always been a bit hesitant about water proof mascaras since they require alot of tugging when removing them but this one comes off easily when I use Bioderma and a cotton pad, yet it stays on even after quite a few tears. ( Beauty Blogger Test - I was wearing this as I was watching the Vampire Diaries, and let's just say, when Stefan and Klaus get sad, it HURTS me on an altogether new level and tears flow like there's no tomorrow haha)

The formula in itself is what I truly love the most about his mascara, it is perfect for everyday use! We all want that natural no-makeup/makeup look and this is the ideal mascara for girls who want to acheive that. As much as I love my Maybelline Faslies mascara, it's not something I would wear everyday to university or for a casual look, since it volumizes just a bit too much. Luscious Curl Addict mascara, lengthens and curls your lashes fabulously while adding a bit of definition to almost non existent/visible lashes.

Another thing that I love about Luscious is the way they have advertised this mascara. I'm sure all of you guys must have bought one thing or the other after looking at the magical claims on the packaging that eventually fail you. Luscious hasn't done that, they claim this mascara to be one that dramatically defines and curls your lashes, and that is exactly what it does!

All in all, a big thumbs up for Luscious latest release, it is everything you would require in an every day mascara that you can use to enhance your eyelashes whilst looking like they're like that naturally.

Availability- online & in-stores.
Price- PKR 950

Have you tried any mascaras that are perfect for day to day application? Let me know in the comments below :) Until next time, tc.

Review & OOTD- MUA Matte Lipsticks

2.09.2014

I'm a matte lover, I think everyone knows that by now, especially when it comes to lip products. That is what tempted me to order these lipsticks in the first place and given they're only PKR 200 each, it wasn't really hurting my pocket either haha.

That berry shade looks scary doesn't it? When I ordered these two shades, what I had in mind was a deep dark purple-y (Wild Berry) color and a bright red (Scarlet Siren). While the red is exactly what I thought it would be, the berry shade quite isn't, now anyone would be dissapointed with not getting what they expected from a product, but boy am I glad that this shade isn't what I expected since it is an absolute gem!

Starting with the packaging, instead of the typical black tubes, MUA's Matte lipsticks come in white packaging which I like soo much better. It's basic plastic but alot more sturdier than I thought it would be, and the little area under the tube where you can see the color? Well, that's extra lipstick for you guys! Just twist and open it, and there's more lipstick hidden there to be used! I was really excited by the extra lipstick for some reason haha.

Can you guys believe THIS is the same super dark purple shade pictured above? I was pretty shocked at first too but I am loving it now. I literally wear this shade EVERY SINGLE DAY! It's a stunning berry shade but it's not too over the top for daily wear. I never thought I would come across a 'vampy' shade that I would actually be able to wear to university. Girls, if there is one shade you need to try from this collection, it is this one, hands down! My favorite lipstick since I discovered the Wet n Wild ones. This is the maximum intensity of Wild Berry, and even though its not the shade I expected, I love it since I can easily put some on in a hurry and be on the go!

While Wild Berry wasn't what I expected, Scarlet Siren is! It is exactly what it looks like in the tube. A super bright in your face cherry/tomatoe  red that makes your teeth look pearly white haha. While I love the shade, it's not something I wear on a day to day basis.

Now being matte lipsticks, these are not drying at all, given you apply lip balm underneath! That is very important to ensure that these glide on smoothly. The first thing you will notice about these lipsticks upon application is that the texture is very waxy, it's not your typical matte lipstick texture, but I love it since the waxy-ness ensure that these stay put on my for a longer time. I'd say these easily last 4 hours without eating and drinking, and leave behind a subtle tint as well. All in all, these lipsticks are a winner and I will be repurchasing a tube (or five) of Wild Berry! There are other shades in the range, but I think these two are the best ones thy have to offer. Well done MUA, a big thumbs up for producing matte lipsticks much better than other ones on the market for less than half the price!

Here's a mini OOTD for you guys, just thought I would put a picture of what I was wearing while I was taking the pictures for the post :)

Excuse my grubby shoes, there's mud all over them! Thanks to these rains that I really dislike haha.

Review-Urban Decay Book Of Shadow 4 (Redux)

2.05.2014

Older readers of this blog probably know that I'm no good when it comes to doing eye makeup looks, I really, truly struggle when it comes to blending and all that jazz, and for the life of me can't figure out what would suit my eye shape and what wouldn't. Basically what I'm trying to tell you guys is that I tend to stay away from purchasing eye shadow palettes, since I feel like I don't really utilize them probably, BUT who can say no to an Urban Decay 16 eye shadow palette, along with deluxe samples and a full sized product under $25? Not this girl, not at all! Haha

First off, this 'palette' is quite literally a box, and even though it looks really pretty on my vanity, it isn't compact enough to travel with if space is an issue, but if space isn't an issue, then you can definitely chuck this in your luggage since it is very durable you won't have to fear for the life of your eye shadows. I love purple so all the art work on the packaging is right up my alley with the images and names of all the eye shadows on the backside of the outer packaging.

So once you take the palette out of the box, there is this flap you open and you're met with these super cute 3 dimensional butterflies, a decent sized mirror, 'get the look' cards and a compartment where you can fit your smart phone, so it is easy for you to watch tutorials and do the looks. I've never had a palette with these sort of features so I got super excited by them, my friends however, weren't entertained by the extra 'toys' haha. If only they knew beauty blogger lingo! Lol.

So to get to the eye shadow part of the palette, you have to tug on a ribbon that is enclosed within the palette so you can open the drawer that contains all the goodies that you can see in the image above. When I say 'tug' I mean pull like there's no tomorrow / give your hands and fingers a proper workout / put the ribbon in between your teeth (desi style haha) and pull on it and only then will the drawer open. The first time I tried opening it in front of my friends, boy did they laugh, since I was being all delicate with it at the start, but after five minute of careful pulling, I did all that is told above haha.

Now on to the beautiful eye shadows, all of them except for one that is loaded with chunky glitter, are super smooth and soft. They literally feel feel like butter when you swatch them with your fingers since they are incredibly well milled and densely packed together. The biggest disappointment in terms of pigmentation was creep, the matte black, even the lightest colors performed much better than it.

The palette basically has 16 shades, which are divided into brights (the top 8) and the more neutral ones (the bottom 8, with the exception of one). Being a neutral lover, I thought I wouldn't be getting much use out of the top 8 shades since they were soo vibrant but those are the colors I have used the most! Baked has seriously become my all time favorite eyeshadow, just look at that beautiful rusty-gold shade, seriously what's not to love?

Here are swatches of the top 8 eyeshadows, with Baked being my favorite followed by Psychedelic Sister, a true royal purple, and Grifter, a multi dimensional iridescent lilac. Hijack looks super lovely and brings out the brown in my eyes since it's somewhere between a teal/blue shade, adding alot of depth.

These are the swatches for the bottom eight eyeshadow, which lean more towards the neutral side. Midnight Cowgirl and Polyester Bride had more of a gritty texture compared to rest if the eyeshadow due to the fact that they have glitter in them that isn't as finely milled.  While I don't use Midnight Cowgirl alot for this reason, Polyester Bride is beautiful as an inner corner highlight, just remember that it is very in your face and glittery so if you're going for a natural look this might not be the shade you want to use, but if you want that pop in your inner corner highlight, then this is surely a winner! Some of the shades are repeats from the Naked 1 palette which is always a plus point!

If all this wasn't enough, you get deluxe sized samples of the classic, Urban Decay Primer Potion along with their Super Curling Mascara, a full sized liquid eyeliner and a super fum portable speaker that you can attach to your phones! (reviews in a future blog post) I'm such a girl when it comes to stuff like this, so I couldn't stop oo-hing and aah-ing over it!

To wrap up this review, I'd say for the price, this palette was such a bargain, it's a shame that it was a Black Friday deal. I'll keep my eyes on the Urban Decay website next year, just in case they bring back any of the other Book Of Shadows. I give this one a double thumbs up since not only are you getting a limited edition box of wonder, everything from the eye shadows to the primer potion in this palette are the reformulated version with a few new shades that are exclusive to this version of the palette only. Rest assured, you're not getting eye shadows with UD's 5-year-old formula!

Whew, that was quite the review haha. Hope you guys didn't get too bored and decided to only look at the pictures instead of read the text haha! Until next time, tc.
