SLIDER

OOTD & FOTD-Aztecs and Rust

12.30.2012

Well hello there everybody! It's been a long time since I posted any outfit pictures the reason being that I've been going to university later than usual lately and by that time there's no one at home to take pictures of me lol. Boo hoo. Anyways, all that aside, here I am with one for now, lets see how many more I can manage to put up!

This shirt was basically a single shirt piece from last years Gul Ahmed collection. I had some rust cloth lying around at home so I used that to make the neck detailing. If you look closely the buttons are made out of the same print as the shirt, had to really beg my tailor to do that! Paired with my ever trusty black tights and chiffon duppatta, I'm ready to go out the door. Not before putting on a huge jacket that kinda kills the outfit but I'd rather not look fashionable than freeze haha.

Happy New Year guys!(I won't be posting tomorrow, so advance wishes). Blogging has become such an important part of 2012 for me, although I don't blog as often as others, reading all your wonderful comments and blogs have made 2012 such a memorable year!

Until next time, tc.

NOTD-French Revolution

12.28.2012

Well hello there everybody! I've been painting my nails alot these days, I swear I take off a polish and them immediately apply another, my poor nails need a break, must resist! Haha. This time around I didn't know what color to paint my nails so I decided to give myself a french manicure. When in doubt, go for French, I say!

I free-handed the tips and didn't use the stickers that came in the kit because they were incredibly hard to use! They'd peel off the polish from underneath no matter how much I let it dry and wouldn't even stick-on properly so I decided that doing it myself was a saner option. I'm pretty happy with the results, although they could've been much neater. Practice makes perfect, I guess.

Fan of the french manicure? Can you paint on the tips perfectly? Let me know in the comments below :)

Until next time, tc.

NOTD-Festive Red & Gold

12.23.2012

Even though Christmas isn't widely celebrate in Pakistan, I wanted to do something 'festive' on my nails around this time of the year. There's just something about the combination of red and gold that really intrigues me. My manicure was basically a blood red with gold polka dots on top, could've been neater but I just don't have the patience to wait for nail polishes to dry. Impatient, I know!

Ugh I had to idea my hands looked this dry! Excuse that ladies, suffering from the winter dryness blues currently. Is it cold where you live? Are you celebrating Christmas? Made your new year resolutions? Let me know in the comments below :)

Until next time, tc.

Bite-Sized Wonders

12.04.2012

The bigger, the better? Not really. I've always believed that great things come in small packages and here's a post on some of my current favorite bite-sized wonders.

This handy deo is perfect for longer days so you could chuck it in your bag and keep it for those times of emergency. It is incredibly up lifting and fresh smelling! Remember girls, just because it's getting colder doesn't mean you won't sweat.

I've tried a couple of St Ives scrubs but this is the first body lotion mini I've come across and I'm incredibly glad I did! Love it, its handy, sinks into your skin quickly and moisturizes extremely well.

If you're looking for a hand cream that's scented wonderfully, then Queen Helen's Cocoa Butter one is awesome! It smells delicious, but it does take a bit of time to sink in.

Winters are here, and these pesky little things still havent gone away! Something I have ALL THE TIME! Creepy bugs scare me lots.

Love all Body Shop scents, but this one has been a favorite of mine since ages, not overly sweet or fruity and lasts a decent amount of time. The lid doesn't come off the nozzle so perfect for chucking away in your bag :)

What are some of your favorite little things? Let me know in the comments below :)

Until next time, tc and happy December guys!

Haul-American Haul # 3

11.28.2012

Hey guys! Back with a haul post, who doesn't love them? This time around my mom went to America for a training and she grabbed a few beauty related bits and bobs for me on her way back. I gave her a never ending list but she refused to even acknowledge its existence claiming that I already have too much makeup haha.

1. ELF 5 Peice Eyeshadow Set in Day
2. Revlon Custom Eyes Mascara
3. Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
4. Wet n Wild Lipsticks
5. Revlon Nail Varnishes
6. The Body Shops Strawberry Body Butter

Anything you guys like? I might be giving away some of the things from this haul in an upcoming giveaway so keep your eyes peeled for that! Yaay!

Until next time, tc .

Nayabs Life # 2

11.25.2012

So what have I been upto lately? Nothing interesting, at all! But I wanted to do a lifestyle post since I'm not feeling all beauty blogger-y lately so here's a collection of pictures from a couple of days. Hope you enjoy them!

How gorgeous are these two offering by Revlon? I'll definitely be featuring them in upcoming NOTD's irregardless of them being a bit too summery for these cold winter nights haha! Such a rebel I am.

I've seen loads of pictures like these on Google etc, so I thought I'd snap one too, because I really didn't have anything better to do (that sentence rhymes!) lol. A few more markers would've made the picture look fuller in my opinion, oh well..

Nothing glamorous about having inhalers haha, but they are a necessity and I like to keep one everywhere, just in case.

So girls, let me introduce you to the love of my life, the man of my dreams, the reason for my existence.. Robert Pattinson. He's my future husband, he just doesn't know it yet. Ahh I could look at him forever and even that wouldn't be enough. Okay, okay, I'll stop with the fan-girling and the dramatics haha. Love Rob as much as I do?

Been re-reading Cecelia Ahern's The Book of Tomorrow, very different from her normal offerings but still a pleasure to read. It doesn't hurt that the cover is an absolute beauty to look at too.

About to burn The Body Shop's Aloes & Doucher De Lin candle. Having a lit candle during these frosty winter nights is a must! There's just something about candles that warm me up and make my feel all cozy. Are you a fan of candles?

Been loving Amber Romance! Love Spell by Victoria's Secret is heavenly but this is a bit more fitting for chilly nights since it has that warm smell to it. I'm not sure why I actually described a scent as warm though, sometimes I puzzle me too! Lol.

So those were some pictures from recent times in my life haha. I love doing posts like these every once in a while and I hope you enjoy reading them. Please let me know in the comments below :)

Until next time, tc.

Review-Color Studio Professional Blush

11.23.2012

Color Studio Professional is a brand that started out with a few products like nail varnishes and lip glosses, and slowly it has been branching out into blushes, foundations, eye shadows, eye liners and lipsticks. I've been pleasantly surprised with everything I've tried so far from the brand but the blush-ons have to be my favorite!

Now the blush does look kinda scary at first glance with all the orange that you see, but I picked it up on a whim anyways and I'm soo glad it did! I was always one for pinky blushes, never knowing how much an orange hued blush would suit my Asian skin tone. I've been wearing it non stop since the day I got it about two months and it hasn't made a dent in the product so you do definitely get your moneys worth out of it!

The blush is highly pigmented so keeping a light hand and then building up the intensity is what I'd recommend. I don't have super fantastic brushes to apply my blush with and it still blends in really well and doesn't look patchy or as if you have blobs of orange on your cheeks! Haha! The lasting power of it, honestly, depends on the weather. If you use it during hot and humid days it wont last forever, but if you use it during nicer, cooler less humid weather, you'll get god wear out of it. I think this applies to every makeup product, the longevity depends alot of the weather.

Packaging wise the basic plastic is pretty sturdy although after two months of chucking it in my bag and dropping it anywhere and everywhere the lids hinge has come off. In the products defense, I am super clumsy and anyone who's a bit more careful with their makeup won't find this to be a problem.

All in all, I'd definitely recommend it and for the price of PKR 550 this is an absolute gem!

Review-St Ives Green Tea Scrub

11.06.2012

I'm not someone who has acne, severe breakouts or sensitive skin that may react to products. What I do get is one or two pimples, almost monthly due to hormonal changes, I'm assuming. Now I used to believe that these pimples would always be a monthly recurrence so I wasn't expecting them to not pop-up for almost 3 months now! (touch wood)

Now first things first, if you've used the St Ives Apricot Scrub and you expect this to be of the same texture, then it is not! Where that scrub is almost abrasive and harsh even on my non sensitive skin, this is much more gentler in comparison. I would describe this scrub almost as a gritty cleanser instead of a proper scrub. There are no visible granules, only tiny ones that can be felt when massaged against the skin.

When it comes to scent, then there is a faint scent which is acceptable to me, it may seem un pleasant to some but it is almost non detectable. To see whether you can deal with the strange scent you could just take a sniff of the product before purchasing it.

Now coming to the claims, the product is supposed to clear breakouts and reduce redness. I agree with the clearing breakouts part a 100%. The pimples that used to pop up almost monthly haven't come back to torment me in nearly three months and the only change in my skin care routine is the addition of this scrub, along with another product that I'll be reviewing soon. I can't vouch for whether it'll reduce redness since I don't have any and I can't tell any difference in that area.

All in all, for its price of PKR 275, this is hands down the best breakout reducing product I've used. Although the product doesn't have the typical scrub texture it still takes away dead skin and I can use it everyday, even twice a day without wearing out my skin.

If you're looking for something that'll control and reduce your breakouts, then this is a must try. Obviously it goes without saying that everyone's skin reacts differently to different products and what works wonderfully for me might not do anything for you and vice versa, but this is a product that I feel will work for most.Click here to know more about me if you'd like! :)

P.S- Do you guys use under eye creams? Any recommendations which can easily be purchased in Pakistan? Let me know in the comments below :)

Aloha Unhealthy Food # 4

10.30.2012

Long time, no Aloha Unhealthy Food post. Seeing as it was Eid recently, and no one left any stone un turned in stuffing themselves I though this would be the perfect time to put up this post. Rest assured, I won't subject you pictures of more meat :)

 1 & 2. Double Chocolate Donut and a Plain Sugared one-MnM's <3
3 & 4. Home made shell pasta with black mushrooms-Nestle Yelly! (best quickie dessert I've ever had!)
5 & 6. Afghani Rolls ( I think it's an Islamabadi thing, but Afghani Rolls are basically hot dogs, french fries, veggies and lots of spicy sauces wrapped in a roti, sounds a bit much, but it's yummmy!) - Gujrati Thaali

So there it is guys, a meat free Aloha Unhealthy Food post. I'll try to be more regular in posting there up since I usually do get a lovely response from all of you guys! In other news, I can't believe I'm about to reach 300 followers! Ahhh, soo excited! I'm already planning a giveaway to show my appreciation :)

Until next time, tc :)

FOTD & OOTD-Eid Ul Adha

10.28.2012

Well hello everybody! Happy Eid ul Adha to everyone celebrating, and for those who aren't, happy Saturday to you :) I should probably learn my lesson and change my tailor since he is quite unreliable but I didn't this Eid as well which resulted in me not getting my Eid dress on time, just like last Eid. Oh well, I think I did okay without my dress. You guys let me know in the comments below :)

I decided to keep it simple when it comes to makeup since I'd be running around all day and didn't want to do something that would require high maintenance. My dress was basically a jorget shirt with ruched sleeves and embroidery down the front which is kinda obvious haha. I paired it with a chiffon duppata and my ever trusty black tights.

Now, I know my eye makeup skills leave a lot to be desired but I decided to try anyways. I'm wearing two shades from the MUA Undressed Palette. I have Shade 1 on the inner corner, followed by Shade 6 on the entire lid and a bit of Shade 7 on the crease. To see the swatches of the shades used, and a review of the Undressed Palette click here.

As for the rest of my face, you can see its more on the naturally radiant side (atleast that is what I had in mind before starting lol). I started off with Rimmels Match Perfection Concealer and Highlighter (review here) and followed it with Rimmel's Clean Finish Foundation (review here) and a light dusting of Rimmel's Stay Matte to keep my makeup locked in place for as long as possible (review here). Now I know it seems like I'm a walking, talking advert for Rimmel but I find that all their products work really well for me, especially when combined. For my cheeks I added a bit of MUA Bronzed Perfection on my temples and jaw line (review here) along with a bit of Color Studio Professional's Blush in Audacious Orange. I finished off the look with a Revlon Matte lipstick (review here).

Excuse the mini bomb in my hair and the pose in the second picture lol, I was attempting to show a bit of my Mehendi artistically, which was quite a fail haha.

How was your Eid? Did you guys over dose on Bakra meat or stayed away from any and every from of gosht like me? Let me know! :)

Until next time, tc.

Review-MUA Bronzed Perfection

10.12.2012

This review has definitely been a long time coming. I;m sure that most of you must have already read reviews about the MUA Bronzed Perfection that had quite some hype surrounding it, but here's my review on it anyways.

So first things first, this bronzer is gigantic! It is absolutely huge!! I, honestly, can barely close my fingers around it when I have it in my hand, it's easily double the size of Color Studio Professional blushes, and I used to think that they were huge. That's the first thumbs up for this product, being priced at PKR 500, this is fantastic value for money. The packaging is pretty sturdy for the price, but it does become a bit difficult to open it at times, although I don't think that's a problem since this assures me that if I'm traveling with this, it wont open and shatter or something along those lines.

Next comes the bronzer itself. As you can see from the swatches on my finger tips the product seems shimmery, but in reality it doesn't have any shimmer or sparkle in it. It is a gorgeous, perfect shade of 'brown' that is quite build-able. I can imagine that pale girls could use this with a light hand and it would work wonderfully on their skin tone. For my skin tone, olive, this works amazingly as well. It is very easy to build up. I feel like there's a limit to which we can build it up and after that it starts seeming 'muddy', as if you have dirt on your face so this bronzer wouldn't show up on darker skin tones.

Now on to the other stuff, the product is matte, very nicely pigmented and has a decent staying power of  around 3-4 hours. It is very easy to blend, I use a really crappy brush to apply it with and it still works wonders for me so it shouldn't be a problem for those who are scared of the idea of bronzers and over doing them. The product does fly away though, not too much but it would've been the perfect product had it been a bit more tightly pressed together.

All in all, for me this is an amazing bargain, and even though there's no way I would hit pan on it since it's that huge, I would repurchase it without a doubt if the day came. I would recommend this to girls with fair-medium skin tones, not with darker tones though since the color wont show up. I would personally advice the MUA team to come up with more shades of this that cater to darker skin toned girls as well, since right now, there's only one color available.

Have you guys tried this bronzer? Did it work out as wonderfully for you as it did for me? What other MUA products are on your like-list? I would love to give them a try do let me know in the comments below.

Haul-Victoria's Secret Goodies!

10.06.2012

Well hello there everybody! Long time no see. I've missed you guys lots! For those who are reading and aren't in Pakistan, there was  a ban on YouTube as an after effect of a blasphemous movie and that resulted in a messed up blogger which wouldn't let me read and comment on your lovely blogs, or post anything on my own, but all's well that ends well, and now I'm back with a haul! Don't we all live vivaciously through each others hauls, I know I do! Haha

Now I seriously doubt that there are people out there who wouldn't recognize these pink stripes! Who would be able to resist the packaging, seriously? On to the goodies that I bought, since winter is approaching I decided to stock up on some body butters and bought the accompanying body sprays as well! The sets I chose were Love Spell, Amber Romance and Pure Seduction! Individual reviews on each set would follow but let me tell you this, once you get a sniff of Love Spell, there's no going back! It's heaven in a bottle! And the body butters, oh my Lord, there's soo silky and luxurious and absolutely perfect for those who find The Body Shop body butters to be a bit too moisturizing and heavy!

Price-
Body Butters- $12
Fragrance Mists-$12
Available- At Victoria's Secret stores and online here! Unfortunately not widely available in Pakistan, but you can find them in shops like Shams (Islamabad).

Review-MUA Undressed Palette

9.11.2012

Looking for THE neutral palette of the moment? Hurry up and get your hands on MUA's Undressed Palette! It's the perfect blend of neutrals, shimmers, mattes and a few darker shades that would not disappoint in smoking out your eye look!

Now where do I even begin with about this palette? I ordered it off just4girls.pk a while back and I've been LOVING it to say the least. All the shimmery colors are very pigmented, the mattes on the other hand are a disappointment, but they show up a bit better on the eyes compared to the swatches. Although the shadows are powdery/chalky and little specs of it get everywhere on the palette, I haven't really noticed any fallout when I apply it over my eye lids using patting motions. The packaging is simple and sleek so its very travel friendly, and unlike the cheap plastic used on Rimmel's Stay Matte, the plastic here feels much better quality, I'd compare it with the Color Studio Professional packaging.

This palette has been compared alot to the Urab Decay Naked Palette, and although I don't have that personally, I've seen comparisons online and they're literally almost the same colors except the price tag for this is much more pocket-friendly. If you're looking for a neutral palette, or are starting out with makeup and don't want to (a) spend alot of money (b) go all out with your eye looks then this palette is the perfect choice for you!

I've had an excellent experience with this MUA palette, what other ones should I be trying out? Let me know in the comments below!
